Problem
Common Problems:
Metal roofs expand and contract as the roof surface warms and cools, causing the fasteners to loosen away from the metal, and the seams and laps to pull away from each other. Other issues may include:
Rusting: Corrosion occurs when the protective coating or galvanization of the roof wears out and bare metal is exposed
Pin Holes: Rainfall, snow and ponding water, with help from UV exposure, are known to cause this problem.
Roof Ponding: Ponding areas are usually caused by structural deflection at the gutter line of metal roofs.
Under Insulated: Metal roofs with inadequate insulation can allow condensation to form on the underside of the roof, causing roof corrosion from inside the building.
Flashing: Many metal roof leaks are caused by poor flashing design along roof penetrations.

Why SRM over a Metal Roof?

SRM will perform and stay adhered in the presence of ponding water.
SRM protects the substrate from the UV attack and weathering.
SRM is a liquid applied directly to the roof, covering every fastener and seam with a silicone product designed specifically for that part of the roof.
SRM provides a monolithic roof membrane − no seams.
SRM in white will provide a highly reflective, cool membrane.
WDG Products needed:
- Fas-topper Sealant for all fasteners
- HSS 535 Flashing Grade or 600 Series Butter Grade on all seams/laps
- WDG Polyester Fabric (if needed)
HSS 535 Flashing Grade on walls, skylights, parapets, ect. - HSS 535 Coating on the roof
- Always perform an adhesion test prior to application of WDG SRM. 211 Primer may be required.
How to apply SRM to a Metal Roof?
Power-wash/Clean Roof Substrate
Remove rust, apply approved rust inhibitor/primer (if needed)
Address details and required repairs (sealants/535 coatings/embedded fabric)
Apply single-coat of HSS 535 Solvent-Free Silicone
